3:23am: Jovian Working
Tonight I started with the first in a series of 3-4 planetary workings

It was a simple rite, some of it impromptu, some scripted

I created a consumable sigil. The first part of it I will not go in to. But suffice to say any sigil one chooses to use will suffice. On a yellow square piece of paper, fold diagonally along both vertices. this helps later. On the four sides on the square, with the bottom of the sigil facing in, draw your sigil, once for each face. Next draw the sigil of fortune (It looks like a crosshair with the lines extended past the circle, and then four smaller circles on the ends) in the centre of the piece of paper. Next in each of the corners draw the planetary symbol for Jupiter. I used purple ink for this but one could just as easily use royal blue. Next turn the paper over and write your prayer on the back in theban script. Write along the edges spiralling in. There is your sigil.

In the actual ritual itself I burnt 1tsp of Nutmeg with the same of cloves and cinnamon. I used royal blue candles (if your using blue ink forthe sigil try purple candles or vice versa). In the candles I carved my sigil, the planetary sign for Jupiter and the Symbol of Fortune mentioned above. These are still burning as we speak. I also anointed them, but the oil used I have no idea of.

Music wise I had Holst's Jupiter on repeat.

The actual ritual went thus

The vibration words used were EL for the Hexagram, and Ararita for the plantary symbol in the hexagram. For those interested you may want to read High Magic by Frater UD. The author gives a really good explanation on these two foundations of Ceremonial Magic

Then the following Prayer was recited

JOVIAN PRAYER

Holy Father, who is name Jove
Ruler, Expander and Bringer of Love
Descend and lend me your lordly might
On this you own sacred night

Cause my shop to expand
And become something grand
Help this business I did make
To succeed at all I undertake

Help build this vehicle of what's long gone
This aspiring Temple Of Babylon.
To spread the word of the old ways
Aid me Lord Jove now I pray

This sigil describeth my desire
I consign it to the fire
So it may be read by thee
As I will So mote it be.


After which the sigil was burnt. I had the idea of impregnating the paper with Saltpetre before hand.

I then did a part meditation part affirmation

I then charged the sigil by the Solo method

Farewelled the quarters and dismissed the planetary force.

NOTES: There was a definite energy in the air. That incense is getting me high.Hence the incosistancy of my notes. The energy was expansive, like I wanted to rule everything in a benign manner. I altered the prayer in the affirmation and it seemed to generate a response.


I have a theory that if one makes the consumable sigil of the qaballistically corresponding number of sides then one sets up the proper vibration. Eg Jupiter = Chesed = 4. The Saturnian working will be interesting. A rectangle with one side REALLY longer thanthe other. The prayer would have to be short.

I will try this out and see how it goes. I will post any results here

9:31am: Sensory perception in circle
I've been doing the LBRP on a daily basis lately, as part of me being on holidays. Some days I will combine it with meditation or worship, today I decided to do some actual worship. I've been reading High Magic by Frater U D. Its a good read and so I took the exercise on sensory perception after the LBRP and went through it. What I found was this the following things from my five senses

TOUCH: I could feel a definite warmth at the edges of the room. I don't know if this was the candles of the ritual at work here.

SOUND: The strangest thing happened I heard the god names resonate but each was proceeded by a sound. Air was something similar to tinkling glass or crystals. Fire was the whoosh and roar of flames. Water the rush of a waterfall, and this is the strangest(or perhaps not if you think about it) Earth was silence.

SMELL: The incense went from being sweet smelling to earthy (burning woods, leaves that sort of thing). It was a nice change. Mind you it probably stinks down there with the devil dung burning.

TASTE: I didn't really go through this one. My buccal juices didn't really react either

SIGHT: I did see the angels. For some reason though there is always a squirrel at the feet or on the shoulder of Auriel.

I also came to the conclusion that this house is a gilded cage. I need to get out, find somewhere with acreage and create my own temple. Start afresh. This feeling of stagnation is coming from being trapped here. So to this end I and intent on cleaning and renovating this place so I can leave it behind

6:29pm: Autumn Equinox 2006.
MABON 2006

Items Required
Incense consisting of
· 2 parts Frankincense

· ½ part Oakmoss (or a few drops Oakmoss bouquet)
· 1 pinch Oak leaf
Decorations of Autumn colours, orange, red, yellow, brown.
A ceremonial knife
A straw effigy
Linen bandages
Anointing Oil consisting of
· Mabon Oil - Put in soap or annoint candles
· 3 drops frankincense
· 3 drops pine
· 3 drops juniper
· 3 drops rosemary
· 2 drops sandalwood
· ¼ cup of base oil such as olive or vegetable.
Red Moon Cookies
Apple Cider (a decent one, NOT Strongbow - get merrydown if possible)
A sheet of white cloth

Preparation.

The High Priest performs the Lesser Ritual of the Banishing Pentagram.

The High Priest and High Priestess walk into the sacred space. Each lights a dinner taper. The High Priestess lights the black, and the High Priest the white one. With these candles they light quarters. The High Priest lights the East and South Quarters and the High Priestess, the West and North Quarters. They then light the votive together as a symbol the uniting of the male and female forces.
They both then kneel before the altar. The High Priestess plunges her Athame into the water bowl and visualises the water glowing silver while she says:

"I exorcise thee oh creature of water,
And cast out any impurities
And uncleanliness of the spirits
Of the worlds of phantasm,
That thou may aidest me in my workings.
Wherefore do I bless thee,
In the names of Belenus and Brigid.


The High Priest then plunges his Athame into the salt bowl and visualise it glowing gold whilst saying:

"Blessings be upon thee oh creature of salt,
Let all hindrance and malignity
Be cast hence from
And let all goodness enter herein
Wherefore do I bless thee
That thou may aidest me
In the names of Belenus and Brigid.

He pours the salt into the water bowl - which the High Priestess is holding - with three flicks of his Athame. He then kisses and replaces it on the altar. The High Priest then leaves to wait with the rest of the Coven.


The High Priestess then takes the Sword and draws a Circle of Power with it, point down. She starts in the North and finishes in North going sunwise. While doing so she visualises a beam of green light coming from the sword, this beam is to carve a circle into the ground, and from this circle she is to visualise a green wall of energy being emitted. Leaving a gate in the circle by scribing a arch in ether, by lifting the sword higher than the heads of the coven as she passes the doorway. And saying at the same time:

"I conjure thee 'O' circle of power, that thou be-est a meeting place of love joy and truth, a shield against all wickedness and evil. A boundary between the world of men and the realms of the Mighty Ones, and a rampart and protection that shall preserve and contain the power we shall raise within thee. Wherefore do I bless and consecrate thee in the names of Cernnunos and Brigid."

She lays down the Sword in the corner, and admits the High Priest with a kiss, and anoints him on the wrists and forehead with oil. She then spins with him around the circle Deosil. Both of them chanting
Eko Eko Azarak
Eko Eko Zomelak.

Over and over while they dance around the circle.

The coveners are admitted in a similar fashion woman to man, man to woman, without the chanting.

The first person takes the censer around the circle in a slow steady manner sunwise, beginning and ending in east, the whole time visualising a yellow/orange wall of energy around the perimeter of the circle and imagining a breeze sweeping clean the circle. While doing this they also say the following:

"I cleanse this circle with the power of Air,
Incense smoke, clean and hot,
So Mote It Be."

Once they have done this, they covener then moves around inside the circle, again sunwise, censing each of the coveners head to toe. The gender opposite officiant cleanses the covener (ie. The High Priest would cense a female, and the High Priestess a male).

The second person does the same thing with the candle, this time visualising a wall of red flame. It warms the circle, but only burns malign entities outside. As they do this they say:
"I cleanse this circle with the power of Fire.
Flickering flame, all consuming.
So Mote It Be."

Each of the coveners are cleansed with fire, in a similar manner.
(NOTE: this does not mean setting them on fire)

The third person repeats the process with the water. Asperging the water around the circle, sunwise, East to East, while saying:

"I cleanse this circle with the power of Water.
Life Blood of the Mother,
And salt, deep from the Mother's Womb.
So Mote It Be."

The Quarters are then called. If known the respective Invoking Pentagrams should be used. If not the Invoking Pentagram of Earth may be used.

First of all called, is Air. For this the Wand is used. The calling is done thusly:

"All-Seeing Eagle of the East
Lord of the Tempest,
Ruler of the Skies
Prince of the Powers of Air
We ask that you be with us on this Mabon
To guard over our circle and Grove.
We bid you hail and welcome."

Next is fire. For this a sword or Athame may be used. This is the call for Fire.

"O Mighty Lion of the South,
Lord of Lightnings
Guardian of the Solar Orb

Now water. For this consecrated water from a chalice is asperged in the form of a Pentagram.

"O Wise Salmon.
Guardian of the Rivers
Lord of the Estuaries.
Keeper of the deep wisdom of Water
We ask that you be with us on this Mabon
To guard over our circle and Grove.
We bid you hail and welcome."

The High Priestess Calls Earth. She may use the wand or the Athame, it is truly up to her:
"Great Black Bull of the North

The High Priest kneels before the High Priestess. The High Priestess stands before him holding wand and Sword Crossed over each other in the Osiris Position.

"Mother of the Earth.
Mother of the Wild.
Mother all life,
Both Mighty and Mild.

Keeper of the Cauldron
Of Immortality.
Come milady
Come milady
Come down unto me.

I call upon thee
Brigid, Maiden
Come now
And show thyself to men.

Keeper of the Cauldron
Of Immortality
Come Milady
Come Milady
Come down unto me

Embody thyself
In your servant
This priestess
Come to me
And I shall greet thee,
with a fivefold kiss.


He then gives the High Priestess the five-fold kiss. Firstly he kisses her feet, then her knees, then her womb, then her breasts, then her lips. As he does so he says the following:
"Blessed be thy feet which walk the sacred Path (Kiss)
Blessed be thy knees which hold upright on this earth (Kiss)
Blessed be thy womb for without which we would not be (Kiss)
Blessed be thy breasts, formed in strength and beauty (Kiss)
Blessed be thy lips, which utter the sacred names (Kiss)"

As the High Priest reaches the Priestess' breasts, The High Priestess opens her arms and as he says the final lines they embrace and kiss.

They separate, and the Priest takes a step back. The High Priestess lays the scourge on the Altar and she draws the Pentacle of Earth in the ether in front of him with the wand. She says

"Of the Mother Darksome and Divine,
Mine the Cut and mine the Kiss
The Fivefold star of love and bliss
Here I do charge you in this sign."

"I am the Earth Mother
Nurturer of both man and beast.
I am consort to the Wild God.
I am the beauty of the Green Earth,
Mother of all Magick
And Mistress of the Moon's Mysteries
Whenever ye have need of my power,
Meet under the stars and skies
When the moon is full.
Dance in my name, sing, feast
And make merry.
For Joy is my creed
And Love is my strength.

The HPS then invokes the Sun God of the waning year into the HP
She kneels before him with arms aloft and says

"Shining Radiant One! King of the Land, Sun Lord!
Waning One! King of the Twilight, Dusk Lord!
King of the Year's Wheel, Autumn Lord!
Sacrificial One!, Redeeming One!
Dionysus, Osiris, Promethues Tammuz, Baal, Odin, Mabon!
I call upon thee. Come down before us
And inhabit the body of this thy priest,
So that we may complete what was begun at Yule.


It is at this point the coven forms a circle and begins to chant:

"In a ring we all shall stand,
Pass the power hand to hand,
As the season turns again,
Power flows from friend to friend,

Pass the power hand to hand.
Bless the lady the bless the land
Bless the lord and bless the skies
Bless the power that never dies."

They repeat the second verse continuously as they begin to move in a circle, eventually gathering speed and energy as wheel faster and faster. When the cone of power has reached its peak the High Priestess will call "Down!" at which point the coven drops on the spot (as safely as possible). The energy should be grounded at this point.

The circle faces inwards with the HPS standing in the East, and HP in the West. The HPS then proclaims.
"The Land has started going fallow and barren,
a sacrifice must be made so that it may be made new again.
But who will do it? Lord Holly? Will you do it?

To which he replies "Not I Your Majesty, I must rule until the year has waned."

HPS - "Then perhaps the Oak Lord will ensure renewal in the land.:

To which the Oak Lord replies "My Lady, I must be there to rule in my brother's stead at Yule, for if not I then who will take over the growing time?"

HPS - "This is very true."

" My love, I will do it" the Sun King exclaims. "My time is on the wane, it is better to leave this world at my height so that I may ensure the dead safe passage. I have done what I am meant to. The land has prospered. But I must make sure it survives. The King is the Land, and if the land is dying, then it is my place to do so too."

HPS - " No, my Husband, surely there is another way."

HP - " No, Brigid, do not be sad, you carry my seed in your belly. In this land I will live on, as in the next. We will be reunited one day as you feel the Shadow's pull at Samhain. It is me that must be sacrificed. Let Lady Death do it. And let it be quick.

HPS - "If that is how it must be…"

She then solemnly gives him the five fold kiss for the last time. The Crone then takes her athame, and draws it across his throat to SIMULATE cutting his throat. He falls to the ground. The three goddesses (Maiden Mother and Crone) anoint him with oil; they then drape a White Sheet over him.
The High Priestess then says.
"The Sun King is dead, all that he stood for is gone, and so let the man who stood for him live again and the effigy take his place!" The sheet is removed from the HP and he is escorted to the North. The effigy is placed in the middle. On a piece of paper, everyone then writes one thing they wish to be rid of, that has come out of this year. They place the paper inside the effigy. The effigy is then bound in the linen bandages. (Note - this part can be done on the first night of the festival in preparation for the rite.) It too is anointed. The Oak King and Holly King proceed to lift up the effigy as if bearing a real body, walking around the circle widdershins three times. Alternatively it can be borne to a place where the effigy is to be burnt. If the effigy is burnt in a nemeton (and be sure to get permission for this) then place it on the pyre platform. An alternative to this could be to use a small funeral barge, by propelling the barge (bearing the body) and firing a lit arrow into it. Either way the HPS then recites the following as the barge is burnt/and or borne away.

Farewell, O Sun, ever-returning Light,
The hidden God, who ever yet remains,
He who now departs into the Land of Youth
Through the Gates of Death
To dwell enthroned, the Judge of Gods and men,
The horned leader of the hosts of air -
Yet even as he stands unseen about the Circle,
So dwelleth he within the secret seed -
The seed of newly-ripened grain, the seed of flesh;
Hidden in earth, the marvellous seed of the stars.
In him is Life, and Life is the Light of man.
That which never was born, and never dies.
Therefore the wise weep not, but rejoice.

A small moment of reflection should be taken here, each person thinking what the last 12 months has meant to them. Giving silent farewell to the Sun King, silent thanks for those things that they cherish, and silence to those things that are sooner best departed.

After this the ritual of cakes and cider should follow, the Candle Game should also follow along with anything else the HPS deems appropriate.

The goddess is farewelled as are the quarters, and the circle is taken down.

10:36pm: Meditation 7/03/06
I've started up doing my daily devotions again. This time twice a day. It feels great just to swtich off twice a day and let my mind free. Tonights meditation however rates mention. I was contacted by Old Horned. He told me to constuct a temple. Now this thing looked like something you would find at talisman gallery. It was made out of metal, and was curved but in an angular way.kind of like a host of hyperbolae connected end to end. He told me it was a temple. But not a physical one. I had been using the invocation of Janicot as a mantra again. I don't know why, but that thing helps to centre me and generate energy. ALmost like it re-affirms my foundation and energetically builds on it. I had done like it said in Liber ABA, start out almost screaming the mantra, then quiten it down, as your mind quitens until the mantra is recited internally. On the way back up to consciousness I noticed it had taken on a rhythm. It was a good rhythm to create a dance to. I had a vision of five men. The five walls were men dancing, and the temple was constructed astrally. By our devotion. In otherwords I am to create a temple to the horned one, with male members of my coven. Myself, Shane, Ryan, maybe Ben, and finally Hummy. I think this may be the ressurection of the brotherhood of Janicot (Hummy and Horned permitting of course). That reminds me OH said something to me odd. To contact Hummy because there was only a limited amount of time to do this in

I started this Journal bck up as a record of all rituals and magick operations and experiments. I will not LJ cut on here. Because while this is here to benefit those who choose the read it, it is mostly here for my own edification. Why am I leaving the older entries on here? I think they stand as a testament to who I was, if we forget the past we're doomed to repeat mistakes, and this is very much the past. So enjoy. The HP Advances around the circle Deosil three times and stops in front of the North Altar.
HPS: "My Son you are destined to become the King of this land, a leader of Men. But be ever mindful, just as the King rules the land, the King is the land for ultimately he must serve his people, in order to lead them. Thus you are to receive your crown with humility. Kneel so that all can see that their King knows what it is like to tread the earth."
The HP kneels.
Maiden: "Husband, we met at spring, were wed at Beltaine, I now carry your child. Let your Light shine upon the rest of the land also. With this crown you become brother, father and consort to them too." She places the crown on his head. "Arise Corn King, Sun King, King of the Land. And shine radiant as a beacon for courage, honour, strength, hope and abundance."
The King then Circles Deosil 3 times whilst saying
"I am the Corn King. Bringer of life and abundance to this land"
"I am the Sun King. Bringer of Light and keeper of this land"
"I am the Land, and Keeper of its Peoples"
"I am the bearer of courage, honour and abundance. I bring this flame for all to share."
The strega ritual is enacted and each person steps forward and receives a sip of the alchemical liquor.
HP: "I have come before you all to announce we are at a zenith. Thanks to my faithful steward, Lord Oak, we have grown and prospered. But thinks cannot last this way forever and thus I appoint Lord Holly to be steward of this land from now until such time as I return from my cold slumber!"
The Oak Knight steps forth
Lord Oak: "Lord, please reconsider! The land will continue to grow under my rule things will never die!"
HP: "Exactly, Lord Oak! Change is inevitable. What is shoot shall become flower
What is fruit shall become seed. What is seed shall become a shoot. Ever and forever, as the Wheel turns. Things change, die, even I am not eternal!"
Lord Oak: " If that is how it must be, I challenge my brother Lord Holly to a duel. A fight to the end for rulership of the land."
The Holly knight steps forward
The lords fight. In the end Holly strikes the fatal blow.
Lord Oak "I concede defeat brother Holly!" He dies
HP "The Oak king is dead, his spirit gone to reside in Caer Ahrianrhod, the castle of the silver wheel to come again at Midsummer. And so let the man who has stood for him be freed of his duties."
The oak king removes his tabard and rejoins the coven. The Holly King stands on the Male side of the North altar facing the coven with the Maiden and Sun King.
HPS : "We have a newly crowned King. Let there feasting and Merriment."
Cake and Wine ritual
The Quarters are then bid farewell.

"O
We thank you for attending our circle on this Midsummertide evening
And bid you Hail and Farewell

ALL: "Hail and Farewell."

Except the Northern Quarter where in addition to the Totem animal the words

O MIGHTY GOD, O GENTLE GODDESS
Are added immediately after the Totem Animal.


The HPs then walks around the circle counter sunwise with her athame or sword, point down. She imagines the iridescent glow of the circle being absorbed by the blade and as she nears completion she says:

"The circle is open, but never broken. Merry Met (at this point all join in) Merry Part, and Merry Meet Again!! Hurraya!!

Feast.


How did this make me feel? Where to begin? Okay I was made a king, the responsibility of the Land was placed upon my shoulders. Much like the running of the coven. It is hard at times but ultimately rewarding The fighting of the two knights was sad. I could tell that the oak knight wanted to desperately win. But change is the nature of things. I think the decision to have a different knight from each house each year drives home the fact that life is fragile and transient. People die and they're not always deserving of it. In the actual rite, MistWolf played the knight well. He fought valiantly with strength and wisdom, but unfortunately even the strongest oak succumbs to change. It grows, it whithers and new oaks spring from its seed. Much like the Seelie must yeild to the Unseelie. Order and stability must eventually yield to change and chaos if growth is to occur and so chaos and growth must eventually cool down to something stable and established. I think it is sad that the oak knight we knew this year will never be again. But as the Sun King says 'All things change, even I am not forever' and indeed in a million years or so when none of this all matters the sun will reach a critical mass and grow, taking 3 planets with it. But with it Mars becomes thenew Mercury, and perhaps a new kind of life will develop on the our rim. I guess between this and the recent riots in Cronulla, it's sending a message out that enjoy what time we have here. Enjoy your family and your friends, accept your differences, learn from each other. We only have 80 years on average here, a blink in the life of the sun, but even that yellow gas ball of radiance will one day blink off. Life is too short to fight and hate. Have a happy silly season.

10:28am: End of an Era
Dear Faithful Reader,
the time has come to end this tale. Things have not gone according to plan and I must move on. Anita and I are no longer together, for reasons which I will not go into here. And while I do miss her terribly, I have found the means to go on without her. So as the title suggests, this is the end of an era. I do not know what the future will bring. I cannot know, because, for the first time in my life I am writing it as I go. No blinding guidance from ther Gods here. In fact my usual flashes of insight have become fewer and farer between. No it is time to go. Thank you for reading. I will have new adventures, new tales to tell, I will write again, but (for now at least) the maw of fenris is now closed. My website will remain and I will continue to update it. But this blog will no longer function. For those of you who have been a player in this drama known as my life I thank you. Your presence has made the telling of my stories more interesting. And for you faithful reader I thank you for sharing my ups and downs. Laughing and crying with me. I hope my tales have entertained and educated. But for the last time I write to you today.
